The Health Ministry has taken initiative to appoint 2,000 doctors and 6,000 nurses as per the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Minister Zahid Maleque said today.

"We have prepared few hospitals for the treatments of the growing number of coronavirus patients. Meanwhile, many doctors and nurses have tested positive with the virus and many are in quarantine. In this circumstances, the premier has instructed us to appoint more doctors and nurses," the minister said during a virtual briefing today.

He also hoped that the appointments will change the current situation of health sector.

According to Bangladesh Doctors' Foundation, some 251 doctors are infected with the deadly virus so far in Bangladesh.
