Child’s body found in Khulna, five held
Police say eight-year-old Adnan’s body bore marks of torture and his neck had been broken
The police in the early hours of Friday recovered a dead body of a child from a ditch in Khulna.
The body was found buried in a ditch at Badhal village in Rupsha upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Adnan Babu, 8, a son of Jahangir Hossain of the village. Adnan was a first grader studying at the local Nurani Talimul Quran Madrasa.
Law enforcement have so far detained five people in connection with the incident.
The police and locals said Adnan went to the mosque to offer Maghrib prayer on Thursday evening. As he did not return home after prayer, an announcement was made in the area about his disappearance.
Later, the villagers started searching around and noticed some recently dug soil in a ditch. Out of suspicion, they dug two feet of the soil and discovered Adnan's dead body.
They informed the police about it immediately.
Molla Jakir Hossain, the officer in charge of Rupsha Police Station, said, "The child was murdered and buried. There were signs of torture on his body. His neck was broken."
The police have so far arrested five suspects for interrogation in connection with the murder.
Adnan's body has been sent to Khulna Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. No case had been filed in this regard till 4pm on Friday.
