5 killed in Tangail accident
Another critically injured person has been admitted to Kumudini Hospital
At least five people were killed when a drum carrying truck collided head-on with a private car after ramming into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Gorai- Shokhipur highway of Tangail's Mirzapur on Monday.
The deceased are - Khalil Mia, 18, Sonam Uddin, 60, Mashraful, 8, Hafiz Uddin, 60 and his daughter Renu Akter, 25. All of them were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Sayedur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur police station, said, "The driver and helper of the truck fled the scene after the accident. "
"The bodies will be handed over to the families after legal procedure," he added.
The driver of the private car, Rabbi, told that the truck rammed into the auto-rickshaw while trying to overtake it. At the same time, it collided head-on with the private car coming from opposite direction. He was injured at the accident.
Another critically injured person has been admitted to Kumudini Hospital.
