3 workers burnt in Sitakunda Shipbreaking Yard

Three workers were burnt on Sunday while working at Jamuna Ship Breakers shipbreaking factory in Sitakunda.
The incident took place at noon in the Shitalpur Chowdhury Ghata area of Sitakunda.
The victims were Md Jihad, 18, Md Abdur Samad, 40 and Md Pilot, 22. All of them were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Burn unit.
Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost, confirmed the matter and said the workers caught fire due to negligence while wrecking a ship.
Of the three workers, Jihad had 35%, Samad had 30% and Pilot had 25% burn on their bodies.
