The US's top military officer has said: "We do not take an oath to a king or a queen, a tyrant or a dictator. We do not take an oath to an individual."

General Mark Milley, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, made the remarks at a Veteran's Day event in the midst of a chaotic week at the Pentagon, reports the SBS News.

"Each of us will protect and defend that document regardless of personal price," he added.
