Bangladeshi girl forced into prostitution, rescued from India's Surat

The Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of India has rescued a 14-year-old Bangladeshi minor girl from Althan at India's Surat on Friday.

According to Times of India, the girl was forced into prostituion and was sold various times in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Mumbai before Surat.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that the girl was kidnapped in 2019 by a man from her home in a village of Khan Jahan Ali police station of Khulna in Bangladesh.

Police arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in forcing her into prostitution. Police are investigating to trace the other accused who sold her in different cities.

Along with the Bangladesh girl, police rescued another 19-year-old girl from Punjab who was forced into prostitution after promising her a job in an airline company. She was allegedly brought to the city promising the job but later pushed into prostitution.

Police arrested Ankit Mansukh Kathiriya, Vijay Nagji Padhra and Vishal Sanjay Vankhede for allegedly forcing the girl into immoral activity. The accused were booked for rape,sexual assault, exploitation, forcing minor into prostitution and others under sections of Indian Penal and Protection of Children from Sexual Offen (POCSO) Act. The accused were also booked under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act as well.

"Based on a specific input from a central agency we traced the girl in the city. We rescued her and she will be united with her family after completing the procedure," said Ajay Tomar, city police commissioner.
