16 injured due to cylinder blast in 4-storey Mumbai building, residents evacuated

Sixteen people were injured as a gas cylinder blast exploded in a ground plus four storey residential building in Mumbai's Lalbaug area on Sunday morning. Two fire brigade and two jumbo tankers were rushed to the spot, news agency ANI quoted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as saying.

The blast in the Sarabhai building was reported at around 7:23 am and the fire due to the blast was extinguished by 7:50 am. After the blast, residents of the building were shifted to Hotel Hiramani in Lalbaug.

Of the 16 injured, 12 were rushed to the city's King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital and four to Global hospital. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar visited KEM hospital to meet the injured.
