West Bengal devastated by the fall of Trinamool heavyweights
West Bengal politics has witnessed an unprecedented change. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is coming to power, ending the 15-year Trinamool rule. Not only has the party that ruled for 15 years been defeated in this year's assembly elections, but Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself and a host of stars and heavyweights in her cabinet have also been defeated. In both Nandigram and Bhavanipur, Mamata Banerjee was defeated by BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari by more than 15,000 votes. But the list of defeats does not end here, many impregnable strongholds of the Trinamool have fallen to the BJP storm.
