Huawei Releases Eight Categories of 5G Commercial Use Cases

Huawei has released eight categories of 5G Commercial Use Cases white paper at the 10th Global Mobile Broadband Forum in Zurich, Switzerland on October 29.

These are based on 5G research and deployment practices carried out by Huawei, industry partners and network operators.

The white paper elaborates on market potential and is suitable for large-scale commercial adoption.

The mentioned eight categories are (i) product quality inspection through Cloud vision and Cloud testing for smart factories, (ii) engineering machinery, Cloud Teleoperation for smart mines and ports, (iii) Cloud Video for safe roads and bridges, (iv) Inter-machine Coordinated Control for smart warehouses, (v) Cloud Gaming, (vi)Cloud VR, (vii) 4K/8K videos, and (viii) Cloud live broadcasting.

4K and 8K videos could furthermore create new business opportunities, while Cloud surveillance would allow for better road safety.

As of 2018, the global smart manufacturing market size was estimated at 155.7 billion USD and is expected to reach 301.1 billion USD by 2025.

79% of the industrial manufacturers will plan to invest in 5G in order to improve efficiency.

As cloud machines detect the substandard gaps and impurities of products by uploading images to the machine vision process center through 5G, it will prevent the costly deduction of faulty products.

This will allow for a 30% reduction in maintenance cost as well as a 70% decrease in machine breakdowns. In addition to this, 5G will also allow for smart mines and smart ports.

With 5G enabled remote teleoperation, one person can manage 4-6 cranes by time-sharing and improve the working environment as well as improve the safety of the operation.

This will allow for up to 50% of mining jobs to be replaced by complete automation. 

Huawei, in collaboration with partners and network operators, has explored a large number of innovative 5G applications for multiple industries and has been put into commercial use as pointed out by Mr Ritchie Peng, the CMO of Huawei Wireless Network product line. 

At the Wireless Intelligence summit, Mr Peng stated that "Huawei is committed to providing high-quality 5G connections and enabling the digital modernization of industries.
