Xiomi has been teasing its advancements in camera technology for months now.

It went official with its new camera sensors last week, when it revealed its 64MP and 108MP sensors in collaboration with Samsung.

Now, the Chinese smartphone maker has put a date to the launch of the smartphone that will feature the spanking new 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor—the Redmi Note 8.

Covers will be taken off the Redmi Note 8 on 29 August and just like every Redmi Note-smartphone launched since last year, it will come in two models—Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro.

The announcement was made by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

Interestingly, he also said the smartphone will be launched alongside the much anticipated Redmi TV. The Redmi TV is expected to come in two sizes — 40- and 70-inches, both of which would sport UHD resolution.

Other details surrounding the Redmi Note 8 are still under speculation. There's no news on the processor and memory options of the device.

The company launched a Note device, the Redmi Note 7, earlier this year in January.

This means the product life cycle of the Note series has been reduced to seven months now, in line with the ongoing trends in the smartphone industry.

The predecessor of the recently launched Realme 5-series was unveiled four months ago.

The Oppo Reno will also receive a successor later this month, making its life cycle as short as three months.

The Redmi Note 7 was the Xiaomi sub-brand's first device to sport a high-resolution 48MP sensor.

While in China the company launched only one variant of the smartphone, in India the company initially launched the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro with different specifications compared to the Chinese variant.

The Redmi Note 7 was later replaced by the Redmi Note 7S, which offered a better camera sensor but retained the same processor as the Indian version of the Redmi Note 7.
