Youtube CEO served legal notice over video 'defaming' ex-Ekushey TV director
Former Ekushey TV director Dr Zahidul Islam serves the notice for allegedly broadcasting vulgar content against him on YouTube
A legal notice has been served against YouTube CEO Susan Diane Wojcicki for allegedly broadcasting vulgar content against the former director of Ekushey TV Dr Zahidul Islam.
The top official of the US-based video-sharing platform was served the notice, after she failed to respond to two consecutive letters, sent to her in September and October, seeking disciplinary action against YouTube programme '15 Minutes' which allegedly broadcast the content.
Lawyer Shafayet Hossain Sajeeb sent the notice on Monday on behalf of Dr Zahidul.
Shafayet said, "Illius Hossain, host of 15 Minutes programme on YouTube, broadcast a false, fabricated and objectionable video against Dr Zahidul on 12 September causing social defamation."
"The notice warns that if we do not get satisfactory answers, and if the programme (15 Minutes) is not closed, within next 30 days, a case seeking $50 lakh compensation would be filed," the lawyer added.
Shafayet said two letters were sent on 19 September and 18 October to YouTube CEO seeking action against the programme but in vain.
"No action has yet been taken. That is why we sent the legal notice," he added.
