BASIS to introduce Japan desk Monday

BASIS hopes the desk will help Bangladeshi companies to expand their businesses in Japan

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is set to introduce "BASIS Japan Desk" in a bid to make the country's software and IT sector better able in exploring Japanese market. 

The desk will be opened for BASIS members Monday through a virtual inauguration. Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman will join the programme as the chief guest while State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will be present as the special guest. 

The desk dedicated for Japanese market will have features like B2B matchmaking, links to Japanese IT companies and research on Japanese market. The desk will participate in all ICT events in Japan, provide grooming session on Japanese businesses and culture and inform Bangladeshi entrepreneurs about latest technologies.

The initiative will help Bangladeshi companies to expand their businesses in Japan and boost export revenue, said a BASIS press release Sunday.  

BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir will preside over the inauguration while the association's Director and Japan Desk In-Charge Rashad Kabir will moderate it.   

The BASIS Facebook page will broadcast the event live. The corporation has invited all to join the virtual inauguration.

Senior Secretary to Information and Communication Technology Division NM Zeaul Alam, Commerce Secretary Dr Md Jafar Uddin, Chargé d' affaires to Bangladesh Embassy Tokyo Dr Sahida Akter, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Dhaka Ito Naoki and JICA Bangladesh Chief Representative Mikio Hataeda, among others, will join the event.
