How good is upcoming Playstation 5?

The fans are pretty excited with all the hype surrounding the Sony’s next behemoth console Playstation 5. However, solid details regarding the machine is hard to pin down. 

Several Sony execs have dropped some details over the past few months, so we can trust that the successor to the Playstation 4 could be bigger and better powerhouse for gamers.

Mark Cerny, the chief architect on Sony's next-generation console, in April revealed that the PS5 will play Blu-ray discs, but there is still no info on any possible game streaming services akin to Microsoft’s Xbox series.

Playstation 5: Details we already know
•    The PS5 is slated to be the next generation Playstation console, succeeding Sony’s present lineup of PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.
•    The console will feature much anticipated exclusives such as Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding.
•    The console will put more focus on a retinue of AAA titles, but most indie games will also be featured.
•    The PS5 will definitely be compatible with the existing PSVR (Playstation Virtual Reality) hardware.
•    The PS4 was $399 (Tk 40,000 in Bangladesh) during launch, but the PS5 will probably cost more due to its advanced hardware configuration.

The leaked PS5 specifications looks promising, with a 8-core AMD chipset featuring 3rd generation Ryzen architecture, and a GPU from the Radeon Navi GPU family. 

A SSD storage system will ensure faster data transfer. The deal is sweetened with 3D audio, PSVR hardware, backwards compatibility with PS4 games and 8K TV support.

The look of the console still remains a somewhat of a riddle, but the PS5 will support ray tracing, a cutting edge video rendering technique which will sure to ramp up the level of visuals in gaming.

Cloud gaming will also be a focus in the next-gen Sony console, with improved and more stable performance. The upcoming system will enable players the backwards compatibility needed to play with PS4 players online, dubbed cross-generation multiplayer.

Sony skipped the E3 2019 this year, while Microsoft showcased its next-gen console Xbox Scarlett, set to hit the market near the end of 2020. Presently tight-lipped about specific plans for the PS5, Sony has also kept the console’s release date a mystery. 

The gaming community has already ruled out 2019 for a potential release date, but there is hope that Sony Interactive Entertainment's President and CEO Shawn Layden will make an announcement in the coming months.
