Tinder Select is a new premium monthly subscription option only available to the app's most active users

Tinder has launched a new ultra-premium VIP subscription model for users who are finding it difficult to find "true love".

However, it comes at an obscenely expensive price of $6,000 annually.

The new "Tinder Select" subscription, which users can unlock for a meagre $499 per month, is described by the company as the best way to gain "unrivalled access to the absolute best of Tinder," reports Mashable.

Users will now be able to message others without having to match. Additionally, the "Skip the Line" feature will allow others to see your profile even if they themselves don't have a Gold or Platinum subscription.

However, the newly introduced subscription is not available to everyone yet. According to reports, Tinder has announced that "Tinder Select" is only available to the top 1% of the app's "most active" users.

It has not been made clear what the dating platform defines "most active." Tinder Chief Product Officer Mark Van Ryswyk told Bloomberg that there is "a subset of highly engaged and active users who prioritise more effective and efficient ways to find connections."

According to the website, potential users must meet Tinder's "5-Point Select Screen," requiring profiles to have 5 interests, 4 photos, a bio of at least 15 characters or more, clear relationship intent, and be photo-verified, says Mashable.

Unfortunately, some have raised concerns that Tinder and other dating apps have had to deal with predatory problems on the platform in the past, and the screening process does not seem to be thorough enough to keep bad-faith actors from having premium access to other users in their area.

Tinder's parent company, Match Group Inc, has been working on developing Tinder Select since at least 2019.

According to Bloomberg, the subscription will be available to all users eventually on a "rolling basis." Until then, users can still try out Tinder Plus, Gold, or Platinum, or meet people the "old-fashioned" way, which is both easy on the wallet and daunting.
