Imrul Hasan Shihab, a 27-year-old freelancer, lives at Central Road in Dhaka. For the last few months he has been planning to buy some computers.

As a tech-savvy guy, he keeps himself updated on the tech world and has an overall idea of how to buy computer accessories cost-effectively.

On Thursday he bought four personal computers from the capital's renowned Computer City Center (Multiplan) at a surprisingly low price as the shops at the shopping mall were offering good discounts on the occasion of the 10th Digital ICT Fair.

He got a 9 percent discount for each computer, and got four USB pen drives, four T-shirts and four caps as gifts.

"I needed those accessories and heard that a 5-day long fair is taking place at Multiplan. Therefore, I decided to buy the products from the fair," said Imrul Hasan Shihab.

Like Imrul Hasan Shihab, all customers are getting such offers and discounts from the fair which kicked off on Thursday and will continue till Monday.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the fair on the ground floor of the shopping centre.

The fair is open for school and college students from 10 am to 9 pm.

As many as 746 shops at the shopping mall are giving attractive offers and discounts.

"We are giving some fascinating offers against products like computers, keyboards and headphones. Our offers range from discount to prizes," said Md Raquibul Huda Mozumder, chief executive officer of Techland.

Techland offers 6 months free Netflix service for each LG monitor, and Dhaka to Kolkata air ticket for each HP monitor.

Other shops and brands have also announced offers for various products.

As in the previous year, there will be drawing competition for children, and free gaming and internet browsing.

While inaugurating the fair, Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "Once we were 300 years behind the western world. But now Bangladesh is not a single step behind those countries."

"This shopping mall and the fair have become the symbol of the ICT sector of Bangladesh. I have not seen such a big shopping mall in South Asian countries that is dedicated to computer accessories."

Towfiq Ehsan, convener of the organising committee of the fair presided over the program while Md Helal Uddin spoke as a special guest.

Renowned ICT brands such as Esr, Dell, HP, Kaspersky, Asus, Lenovo and Tp-link are sponsoring the program.
