Bida adds five more services to its OSS

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) has added five more services to its One Stop Service (OSS) portal.

The services are new electricity connections of Dhaka Electric Supply Company (Desco), Northern Electric Supply Company (Nesco), and West Zone Power Distribution Company.

Online VAT registration with the National Board of Revenue and Bida's own service IRC Recommendation have also been added to its service.

With these, Bida now has 47 services available on its OSS portal.

Bida officials yesterday made the announcement at a virtual service launching ceremony.

Addressing the event as chief guest, Habibur Rahman, secretary of Department of Power, said, "The Department of Power (DOP) aims to provide an uninterrupted power supply and is currently providing rapid connections to industry."

"Bida is striving to enhance the ease of doing business in the country and we have become a part of that progress," he said, and that "DOP has also been providing a few services on its own online platform and over an automated system for some time now."

"Work is underway to provide most DOP services online to make them fast and hassle free, as well as initiate an automated complaint management system," he added.

Bida Executive Chairman Md Sirajul Islam said Bida is the focal body facilitating ease of doing business in the country, and the institution is working hard to that end.

He said Bangladesh has been able to hold a strong position in the world with digitalisation. In last year's lockdown, we were able to keep 'working from home' running with online services.

"To streamline working online, we initiated the OSS portal. Its target is to provide required services from one platform which will reduce time and hassle," he continued.

Among others, Zakia Sultana, member of the National Board of Revenue (VAT Audit and Intelligence), also spoke at the programme.
