Many of the Bangladesh National side players have congratulated the Under 19 side after clinching their maiden ICC Under 19 World Cup trophy in South Africa.
The Tiger cubs beat India by three wickets (D/L) in a nerve-wracking final at Potchefstroom. Batting first, the Bangladesh bowlers bundled India out for only 177.
Chasing that, Bangladesh were 102-6 at one point but skipper Akbar Ali held his nerve and so did Raqibul Hasan. And this pair took Bangladesh to the victory with three wickets in hand.
Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza congratulated the young Tigers on their fantastic achievement on his Facebook page.
"Congratulations Bangladesh. Specially Avishek Das from Narail, Rakibul, Shoriful, Emon, and all the players and coaching staff. Akbar, you beauty. Just learn how to control emotion. What an achievement. And what a moment for each and every single person from Bangladesh. Long Long way to go boys. Wish you guys bring lot more in future. Enjoy this moment. Cheers, Mr Captain Akbar. Congrats-Bangladesh," Mashrafe's Facebook post read.
Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad also congratulated the young Tigers for winning the first Wolrd Cup at any level in Bangladesh's cricketing history.
Mushfiq posted on Facebook, "Alhamdulillah!! I can say without a doubt the biggest achievement in my life is becoming a cricketer from Bangladesh. These boys have made me prouder than ever. Congratulations superstars!!!!!"
Tamim said on his Facebook post that this achievement had made the whole nation proud.
"Heartiest congratulations to the Bangladesh U19 team for winning the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020. You made the whole country proud," Tamim's Facebook post said.
Mahmudullah Riyad also heaved praise for Akbar's men. He said in his Facebook post, "What a moment! World Champions! Proud of the boys. Heartiest congratulations to Bangladesh U19s!!"
