Wins for Prime Bank, Sheikh Jamal, and Shinepukur in BDPL

It marked a winning start for new Bangladesh one-day international (ODI) captain Tamim Iqbal.

The second day of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (BDPL) had three competitive affairs as Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 55-runs while Prime Bank Cricket Club defeated Gazi Group Crickets by nine runs and Shinepukur Cricket Club defeated Mohammedan Sporting Club by five wickets.

In the first innings, Prime Bank posted 251-6 in their 50 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Rony Talukdar was the top scorer with 79 while Nahidul Islam and Nayeem Hasan were also vital with the bat scoring 53 and 46 respectively.

Nahidul and Nayeem remained not out to take the team from 155-6 to a respectable score in a 95-run partnership.

Mahmudullah Riyad, the captain of Gazi Group was the best bowler for his side with 3-53 in his ten overs at it seemed like his decision to bowl first after winning the toss was a good one.

But in reply, Gazi Group fought hard but fell short in the end as regular wickets fell and dented their run-chase.

Mahedi Hasan was the top-scorer with the bat with 56 not-out while Soumya Sarkar scored a 49 at the top of the order.

Mustafizur Rahman, Nahidul and Alok Kapali all took two wickets each for Prime Bank.

Batting first, Sheikh Jamal posted a competitive 276-9 in their allotted 50 overs at the BKSP Ground 4.

Opening batsman Shykat Ali, all-rounder Nasir Hossain and captain cum wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan were the top scorers for Sheikh Jamal with 83, 56 and 58 runs respectively.

While in the bowling department, medium-pacer Irfan Hossain was the most successful bowler for Khelaghar as he took 4-43 in his ten overs.

In reply, Khelaghar were never really in the chase and managed just 221-9 in their 50 overs.

Captain Jahurul Islam, who chose to bowl first after winning the toss was the top-scorer for Khelaghar with 51 runs.

In bowling, Sohrawordi Shuvo, Elias Sunny and Salauddin Sakil chipped in with two wickets each.

Mohammedan Sporting Club vs Shinepukur Cricket Club

After winning the toss and batting first, Mohammedan posted 257-8 in their 50 overs.

Mahmudul Hasan was the top scorer with 58 runs while Irfan Sukkur (46) and Abdul Mazid (42) were also useful with the bat at the top of the order.

Mohor Sheikh and Tanvir Islam picked up two wickets each for Shinepukur while bowling.

In reply, Shinepukur got off to a strong start thanks to fifties from Tanzid Hasan (59), Robiul Islam (54) and Captain Towhid Hridoy (50).

Mahidul Islam Ankon, the wicketkeeper also scored 49 and that meant that Shinepukur reached the total with three deliveries to spare at Fatullah.
