With Covid-19 spreading across the globe, Uefa announced back in March 13 that all Uefa Champions League (UCL) matches would be postponed. But as the pandemic situation got slowly getting better, fans started pondering when Europe's premier competition would be back.

At last, on June 17, Uefa announced that UCL will be making its long-awaited return on August 8 with all of the remaining Round of 16 matches being played simultaneously at the home team's stadiums. They also announced that the quarter-finals and semi-finals would be a single leg affair.

With the draw being held on June 10, fans around the world could not be more excited for UCL's return. But who will play whom and who are currently in the lead?

Round of 16

Werner gets a taste of England

The Round of 16 match between RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur saw the Germans win 7-0 on aggregate. Die Rottenbullen's Marcel Sabitzer was named man of the match in the second leg.

Neymar's comeback

The match between Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain was a very exciting one as it saw the French champions overturn Dortmund's lead on their home turf and win the leg 3-2 on aggregate.

The fall of Klopp

Defending champions Liverpool were knocked out of the competition by two Marcos Llorente goals. Diego Simeone's Los Rojiblancos won tie 4-2 by beating Liverpool 3-2 in Anfield.

The Underdogs

Europe's best attacking side Atalanta did justice to their nickname by blowing away Spanish side Valencia 8-4 on aggregate.

Pep's battle

Manchester City will host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Round of 16 match. The Citizens lead the tie 2-1.

London's bane

Bayern Munich will face Chelsea fresh after winning the Dfb Pokal. They previously beat the Blues 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Shock result

Lyon's 1-0 win over Juventus was a shock to everyone around the globe. Ronaldo and Co would be eager to bounce back and overturn the deficit.

Messi's chance

Barcelona will host Napoli at the Camp Nou after a 1-1 draw in Italy. The Catalans lead the Italians on away goals.

Quarter-Finals

The quarter-finals of UCL will be played in Lisbon, Portugal. All four matches will be played consecutively on August 12, 13, 14 and 15.

Potential Ronaldo vs Real

The winner of the match between Real Madrid and Manchester City will play against the winners of the match between Juventus and Lyon.

Flashbacks

Barcelona or Napoli will play against Bayern Munich or Chelsea in the second quarter-final match.

Attack vs Defence

Julian Nagelsmann's RB Leipzig will face Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid on August 14.

Favourites vs Underdogs

French champions Paris Saint Germain will face Atalanta in the last quarter-final match of UCL.
