The Bangladesh national team wants a boost in confidence by beating Bhutan a second time in 2 FIFA International Friendlies, ahead of their Joint Qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 against Qatar and India in October.
Head Coach of Bangladesh National Football team Jamie Day said this to the newsmen after a training session on Monday at BFF artificial turf in Motijheel on Monday.
Bangladesh competed a superb win against higher-ranked Bhutan beating them 4-1 in the first friendly here on Sunday, and will play their remaining match against the Himalayan nation on Thursday (Oct 3) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
"Players always enjoy a win. So, Bangladesh's confidence will get a boost if they are able to beat Bhutan in both the matches, ahead of their Qatar and India matches," Jamie said.
"We have done well yesterday (Sunday) against Bhutan and are now preparing for the next match. I have earlier said that we want to win both matches against them (Bhutan), because we want to complete our preparations with a positive note," Bangladesh head coach added.
Bangladesh booters are preparing for the next ties in their Joint Qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 against Qatar in their home match on October 10 at Bangabandhu National Stadium and their away match with India on October 15 at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
Asked about the preparations for the Qatar and India games, Jamie replied, "We played with confidence yesterday, we have scored the goals. These are positive sides. But, we will not get many chances against teams like Qatar and India. We will get one or two chances and we have to utilize it."
Replying to query about their plans and tactics for Qatar and India, Jamie Day said, "The plan will be different against them. We will try to score goal without conceding any, but we will follow the same attacking tactics against them like the match against Bhutan."
Bangladesh, who put Group E of the AFC Cup with Qatar, Oman, neighboring India and Afghanistan, started their campaign with a 0-1 goal defeat against Afghanistan in their first match at the Central Republican Stadium in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on September 10.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Oman on November 14 in Oman, Afghanistan on 26 March 2020 in Bangladesh, Qatar on March 31 in Qatar, India on June 4 in Bangladesh and Oman on June 9 in Bangladesh.
