U-19 camp starts at BKSP

The national team players have started training individually for quite some time now and it was time for the Under-19 side to start training. 

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has arranged a camp for the youngsters to train themselves after such a long break because of the Covid-19 pandemic and that camp kicked off on Monday at BKSP. 

The camp will be split into three parts, U-19 batting coach Mehrab Hossain Aupi informed. The first segment will have specific skill training for five days followed by net practice for eight days. And finally, the last segment will see the 45 players divided into three teams and competing against each other. 

"Our camp is divided into three parts. At first, we are doing skill training for five days. We are working on specific skills of our batsman and bowlers. After that, we will move on to the nets and do that for eight days. The players will be able to assess themselves there. The next program is our specific match program where we will split the 45 players into three teams and they will play matches among them. The performance from these matches will help us to pick our team," Mehrab informed.  

U-19 player Prantik Nawrose Nabil thanked BCB for the initiative and said that he was hoping to recover from the lackings they had because of being at home. 

"It feels good to return to the field after such a long time. Thanks to BCB for arranging such a camp. We could not train during this pandemic. It's a big credit to them for arranging such a camp with full facilities where we can prepare ourselves. Hopefully, with time we will recover from the lackings we had because of staying at home," the U-19 World Cup-winner said. 

Another U-19 player, Md Rihad Khan echoed Nabil's words as he also hoped for fixing their mistakes. 

"Firstly, thanks to BCB for arranging such a camp. We had a long break. Practising together is a very good thing and we will fix our mistakes in this camp," said Rihad. 

The camp was initially set to start with 45 players but has started with 44 as allrounder Iftekhar Hossain tested positive for Covid-19 during the initial testing from BCB.
