Celebrated Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian national team, expressed his shock on the ban decision imposed on Bangladeshi cricket captain and all-rounder Shakib al Hasan via a tweet from his official Twitter account where he wrote: "Unbelievable! Isn't it too harsh on Shakib? Was he involved in fixing? I think his only fault was not to inform the ICC and Anti-corruption unit about the match-fixing proposal. For that two years ban is a bit harsh. I hope ICC reconsider this decision. @Sah75official"

I think his only fault was not to inform the ICC and Anti corruption unit about the match fixing proposal.

Most of Rahul's followers who commented on the tweet agreed with his statement, also expressing their views on the ban decision.

Bangladeshi cricket captain and all-rounder Shakib AL Hasan was handed a two-year suspension by the International Cricket Council for failing to report three suspicious approaches, including one at Indian Premier League, by an Indian bookie.

I have so enjoyed watching Shakib play cricket and I hope to see him emerge from this and continue to show his value on a cricket ground.

The one-year ban that he has to serve will keep him out of 2020's World T20 in Australia.

The other one year of the ban is a suspended sentence that will come into effect if Shakib fails to comply with the anti-corruption code of the ICC.
