Tigers to don special jerseys in ODIs against Windies

Bangladesh national cricket team is all set to release a special jersey for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also planning to celebrate the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary.
The news has been confirmed by Akram Khan, the chairman of cricket operations of the BCB. The players will don jerseys which will resemble the national flag. The red disc, which represents the sun in the flag, will also be there in the jersey. It will depict the joy of freedom fighters after the victory as well as the national memorial.
Akram Khan said, "We are going to celebrate the significant occasion. It is a very special one. To celebrate the 50th birth anniversary of Bangladesh, we are going to release a special jersey. The colours of our national flag- red and green are the only colours we will be using for it," said Akram.
In addition, the former captain mentioned, "We will display the sun in the jersey exactly the way it is there in our national flag. We will also picturise the joy of our freedom fighters after independence and the national memorial."
The BCB have plans to introduce special coins on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50th anniversary of independence.
"We have been planning a few things but because of Covid-19, we haven't been able to execute all of them. But we are still trying. Now we are planning to introduce a special coin. We will finalise it later as we have time," Akram concluded.
