Tigers comfortably seal ODI series with a match in hand

Bangladesh beat West Indies comfortably by seven wickets in the second of the three-match ODI series at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Friday and clinched the series 2-0. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz put on a stellar performance with the ball, registering his best ODI figures. The bowling performance was backed up by skipper Tamim Iqbal's 48th ODI fifty and an unbeaten 43 from Shakib Al Hasan. This was also Tamim's 100th ODI on home soil.

The West Indies captain Jason Mohammed, winning the toss, decided to bat first. Change of strategy could not bring about a change to their fortune as they lost their top four inside 15 overs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed opener Kjorn Ottley and Joshua Da Silva. Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan accounted for the wickets of Sunil Ambris and Andre McCarthy. 

Kyle Mayers, who top-scored in the previous match for the West Indies was run-out courtesy of some brilliant fielding from Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Skipper Jason Mohammed's brief stay came to an end as he was trapped leg-before by Shakib, with the score being 61 for six. 

Rovman Powell stitched two useful partnerships -with Alzarri Joseph of 38 runs for the ninth wicket and with Akeal Hosein of 28 for the last. Powell got out as the last batsman for 41 off 66. Apart from him, none of the batsmen made a substantial contribution as the West Indies bundled out for 148 in 43.4 overs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz returned figures of 9.4-0-25-4 which was his career-best bowling performance. Mustafizur Rahman bowled well once again. The left-arm fast bowler picked up two wickets, so did Shakib Al Hasan. Hasan Mahmud was tad expensive but picked up a wicket as well.

Chasing a moderate target, Bangladesh started with a flurry of boundaries. Liton Das played some glorious shots before getting out scoring 22 off 24 to Akeal Hosein. Najmul Hossain Shanto played couple of good shots but did not last long, departing scoring only 17. 

Then came Shakib Al Hasan in at four. He played with great composure and control. Tamim took his time early in the innings but went on to play a sensible knock of 50 off 76 balls. This was his first fifty in ODIs as captain. 

After Tamim's dismissal in the 26th over, Shakib Al Hasan along with Mushfiqur Rahim ensured that no more damage was done. Bangladesh went past the opponent's total losing only three wickets and 100 deliveries to spare. Shakib remained unbeaten on 42 and Mushfiqur on 9.

For the West Indies, Akeal Hosein, Jason Mohammed and Raymon Reifer got one wicket each.

Bangladesh now have won all their last seven ODIs in a row.
