Taskin Ahmed starred on the first day of the Tigers' first intra-squad two-day match as the seamer ended the day with the figures of 3-45.

The Bangladesh squad were split into two elevens and were named 'Otis Gibson XI' and 'Ryan Cook XI'. Batting first, the 'Otis Gibson XI' were bowled out for 230 by the end of day's play as Saif Hasan and Soumya Sarkar scored fifties for them.

Taskin, who had been impressive in earlier practice sessions, brought the first breakthrough when he got rid of Imrul Kayes. Taskin went on to send back Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who was looking good for his 42 and Mahmudullah Riyad whereas Taijul Islam, who also picked up three, sent back Saif, Mosaddek Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman. Mohammad Mithun picked up a couple of wickets whereas Khaled Ahmed and Saifuddin picked up one each.

Saif Hasan top-scored for the 'Otis Gibson XI' with his 64 and Soumya Sarkar scored 51, but lack of meaningful contribution meant that they were bowled out for only 230 on rain-hit day.

'Otis Gibson XI' keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan also spent an impressive day on the field as he picked up four catches on the day. Taskin, the star of the day, also bowled an impressive 17 overs, indicating his improved fitness.

This is the first of the three practice matches scheduled to be played at Mirpur. The second two-day match will start on October 5 whereas the only three-day match will kick off on October 13.
