In the second intra-squad practice match ahead of the upcoming series against the West Indies, the Tamim-Iqbal led side completely outplayed Mahmudullah XI and won comfortably by eight wickets at BKSP-4 on Saturday.

Tamim Iqbal led from the front with a run-a-ball 80 and was well-supported by Najmul Hossain Shanto and Liton Das.

Mahmudullah XI was led by Mehidy Hasan.

Batting first in the 45-over match, Mahmudullah XI got off to a steady start. Their openers Naim Sheikh and Yasir Ali added 45 off 70 balls before the latter was the trapped leg before by Mahedi Hasan. Naim Sheikh notched up a fine fifty off 68 balls and was dismissed in the 24th overs.

Shakib Al Hasan has been out of runs of late but managed to get some runs under his belt in this match. The southpaw stitched two handy partnerships of 40 and 48 with Naim Sheikh and Mushfiqur Rahim respectively.

Shakib got out in the 37th over scoring 52 off 82 deliveries. He struck one four and a six. Mosaddek Hossain played a useful knock of 31 off 37 towards the back end as Mahmudullah XI finished with 223 for seven.

Mohammad Saifuddin and Mahedi Hasan got couple of wickets each and Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain and Nasum Ahmed chipped in with one apiece.

In reply, Tamim XI started solidly with both the openers- Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das handling the bowlers comfortably. Liton Das initially was the more aggressive of the two and played a stroke-filled 48 off 53 before getting out in the 14th over. He struck nine fours.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, who came in at three, along with Tamim Iqbal took on the bowlers. Tamim walked off the field after reaching 80 off 80 balls. He hit five fours and three sixes. Shanto also played superbly well for his 61 off 51 with the help of seven fours and two maximums.

After Shanto's dismissal, Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar ensured that there was no more hiccup and Tamim XI comprehensively chased down the target losing only two wickets and 58 balls to spare.

Brief scores: Mahmudullah XI 223/7 (Shakib Al Hasan 52, Naim Sheikh 50, Mosaddek Hossain 31, Mahedi Hasan 2/31, Mohammad Saifuddin 2/62, Nasum Ahmed 1/33)
Tamim XI 224/2 (Tamim Iqbal 80 retd not out, Najmul Hossain Shanto 61, Liton Das 48, Hasan Mahmud 1/31, Taskin Ahmed 1/45)

Result: Tamim XI won by 8 wickets
