Tamim, Mahmudullah, Mustafizur turn down offers to play in the CPL

International cricket resumed after a four-month break through the bilateral Test series between England and West Indies. Now West Indies have reportedly started preparing for the franchise-based Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Three Bangladesh cricketers- Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mustafizur Rahman got offers to play in the tournament. But all of them refused to do so.

Tamim got a lucrative offer from a franchise team. They were ready to pay him 90,000 US Dollar (76 Lakh BDT). But Tamim didn't take up the offer for some reasons.

Tamim, the current ODI skipper, told the Business Standard, "The situation is not ideal right now. I pondered a lot of things and refused to play there. Because it'll be difficult for me to come back if one of my family members get affected."

"It's not easy to travel all the way from West Indies to Bangladesh too. It's impossible to play cricket with so much mental pressure. Keeping these in mind, I said no to them," added Tamim.

Premier fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman got an offer to play in the tournament for the first time. But he also said no to the offer.

"I turned down the offer because our domestic cricket may resume soon. On top of that, Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh is not at all. Amid this crisis, I don't feel like going abroad to play," Mustafizur said.

T20I skipper Mahmudullah also got a proposal to play but turned down the offer citing family reasons.
