Sujon tests positive for Covid-19
The news has been confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan.
The former Bangladesh captain and current BCB director, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, was scheduled to join the team at the hotel on Friday as the team leader for the upcoming Sri Lanka series. But that is not happening anymore.
The former Bangladesh captain has tested positive for Covid-19.
He is in isolation in his own house.
Sujon has been in isolation at home for the last few days due to illness. As a precaution, he did not go to the team hotel. Rather he gave samples for coronavirus test.
The former cricketer received the results of his Covid test on Saturday.
Currently, Sujon is physically stable despite having a cold.
The news has been confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan. But the BCB's medical department has not commented yet.
Akram Khan said, 'He has tested positive (for Covid-19), that is why he is not with the team. We are looking at who will be the team leader for the series. It will not be a problem," Akram Khan said.
Sujon was the team leader during the tour of Sri Lanka last month. But the 49-year old Sujon did not join the bio-bubble of Bangladesh team before the series which is scheduled to start on May 23.
