Soumya added to Bangladesh squad for 3rd ODI

The batsman’s inclusion is seen as the replacement of Mushfiqur Rahim, who decided not to tour Pakistan for one-off ODI and second Test in Karachi in April.

Soumya Sarker has been added to the Bangladesh side for the third and final ODI of the series against Zimbabwe.

The left-hand batsman joins a squad that otherwise remains unchanged from the first two matches. Bangladesh has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, following the record 169-run and four-run victory.

Soumya Sarkar initially opted himself out from the Zimbabwe series due to his wedding ceremony.

The batsman's inclusion is seen as the replacement of Mushfiqur Rahim, who yet again decided not to tour Pakistan for one-off ODI and second Test in Karachi in April.

The chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said on Tuesday that they would field a team for the third ODI against Zimbabwe that may play the one-off ODI against Pakistan.

Since Mushfiqur Rahim won't play the Pakistan ODI and Test, there is strong chance that he would not play in the third ODI against Zimbabwe, which is on Friday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Squad for 3rd ODI: Masrafe Bin Mortaza (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das, Taijul Islam, Afif Hossain, Naim Sheikh, Al Amin Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shafiul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarker.
