"‎Everyone was looking for a way back after such a bad match in Dunedin. Everyone tried to give their best. We wanted to come back well but had to pay for terrible fielding," Mithun said in the post-match press conference.

Mohammad Mithun had a fantastic day in the office in the second ODI against New Zealand. He bagged an unbeaten 73 off 57 deliveries but unfortunately ended up on the losing side. He believes the team did everything well except the poor misses in the field that cost them the match.

"‎Everyone was looking for a way back after such a bad match in Dunedin. Everyone tried to give their best. We wanted to come back well but had to pay for terrible fielding," Mithun said in the post-match press conference.

"‎271 is a good score to defend. The wicket was also a bit difficult. There was a good chance to win the match but the misfielding cost us big time," he added.

Mithun, however, thinks these are parts of the game and it can happen to anyone any day.

"‎No, that's how it happens. Such mistakes can happen in cricket. There's nothing to say.‎"

He's had some innings in New Zealand now. He did pretty well in 2019 and has continued his form this time around.

"‎Happy with the way I batted. I think it helped my team.‎"

Mithun tried a bit of bowling in the match as well. Even though he never bowled before in an international match, Mithun mentioned he tried in the nets a few times.

"I'm a wicket-keeper mainly and sometimes I bowl in the nets. I have bowled in a few games before and did pretty well. Maybe that's why the captain kept his faith in me."

Mithun echoed his skipper when he said the team wants to win at least a match from the tour and they are very much focused on the next match.
