Shamim Hossain, one of the members of the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup-winning Bangladesh team, impressed one and all with his destructive batting and terrific fielding wherever he has played so far. The youngster idolizes Jonty Rhodes from childhood and wants to make a difference with fielding.

He spoke to the media ahead of the fourth unofficial ODI between the Bangladesh Emerging team and Ireland Wolves which is scheduled on March 12. "We are a good side, first of all. Having won the first two games, we are ahead of them now. We will definitely try to win tomorrow," said Shamim.

Shamim played two match-winning knocks and got the team home in both the matches and the youngster wants to continue in the same fashion. He said, "I bat in at six. I always want to finish the game and get the team home. This is always my target."

Apart from Jonty Rhodes, Shamim idolizes Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Shakib Al Hasan.

Shamim stated that he is ready to play for the national team. "Obviously (I am ready) as I am playing regularly now. It's important to be prepared always," he said.
