Shakib in Whatmore's best Test XI
Whatmore, who is considered by many as the best coach to have been in charge of the national cricket team, called Shakib the best all-rounder in world cricket.
Former Bangladesh cricket team head coach Dav Whatmore included Shakib Al Hasan in his best Test XI.
Whatmore revealed the full XI in an interview on The Cricket Monthly where he chose from players he coached and played with.
Shakib, who is now playing in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup after serving a one year ban by the ICC is considered as the greatest player Bangladesh have ever produced.
Whatmore, who is considered by many as the best coach to have been in charge of the national cricket team, called Shakib the best all-rounder in world cricket.
Whatmore also felt that Shakib would be playing for Bangladesh for a long time because of his competitive nature.
"I knew he was going to be a long-term representative of Bangladesh cricket because of the way he went about his cricket. In one-day cricket he was very competitive. He had a bit of skill in batting and bowling, but as time went on, when he was ranked the No. 1 allrounder in the world as a spinner-batsman, it vindicated his effort and skill. Over time he became a lot more confident, a three-dimensional player, and the best allrounder in the world," Whatmore told The Cricket Monthly.
