Shakib returns home
The southpaw told the reporters that he returned home with some sort of relief which had been missing for the last one year, including his visit to Bangladesh a few months ago.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned home last night after completing his one-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shakib is due to take part in the upcoming Bangobondhu T20 tournament starting from mid-November.
The southpaw told the reporters that he returned home with some sort of relief which had been missing for the last one year, including his visit to Bangladesh a few months ago.
Shakib has been getting a lot of support after his ban, probably the most in his entire career, and he wants to repay the faith and support everybody showed to him during this dark period. "It is now my responsibility to repay the love and support everyone has shown. This was a difficult period in my life, and I was blessed with everyone's support during this period," said Shakib at the airport.
Shakib may skip the quarantine and start training right away at Mirpur as Akram Khan suggested a few days back. But he will have to pass the fitness test.
Shakib did come back home a few months earlier keeping the Sri Lanka tour in mind. He had his sole practice sessions at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) for like a month under the supervision of Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Salahuddin Ahmed. But he returned back to the USA as soon as the tour was postponed.
Shakib, in a Youtube Q&A video on his channel, admitted that he regrets taking corrupt approach lightly and hoped his teammates would believe him like before. He also urged the cricketers not to do the same mistake he did in future.
Shakib reclaimed his number one spot in ICC ODI all-rounders ranking upon his return.
