Shakib returns to Dhaka

After landing in Dhaka, Shakib went directly to his home in Banani. He will stay in isolation there until his Covid-19 test results come out. If it comes out to be negative, Shakib will start training at BKSP on September 5-6.

Shakib Al Hasan's ban is almost over as he is set to return to cricket at the end of October. And to prepare himself for that return, Shakib landed in Dhaka on Tuesday night at 2:50 am.

Shakib was set to return on August 31 but he delayed it for a couple of days and returned on a Qatar Airways flight.

After landing in Dhaka, Shakib went directly to his home in Banani. He will stay in isolation there until his Covid-19 test results come out. If it comes out to be negative, Shakib will start training at BKSP on September 5-6.

Bangladesh's three-match Test series against Sri Lanka will start on October 24 but Shakib will still be banned by then. But BCB President Nazmul Hassan has said that Shakib can play from the second Test.

As he will return with the Sri Lanka tour, Shakib will be training under a coach at BKSP. Also, BCB plans to keep him in practice after touring to Sri Lanka. As Shakib will not be able to train with the team until October 29, he will practice alone in Sri Lanka.

Shakib, who was the Test captain before his embargo, will have to play under the leadership of Mominul Haque in Sri Lanka. The BCB plans to hand Shakib the captaincy in Tests and T20Is but not right away.

Shakib went to USA in March to be with his expectant wife. During this five and a half months, he spent his time with his family and worked on his regular fitness.
