Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named the second most valuable player of the 21st century in ODIs. The list was revealed by Wisden cricket monthly in their July edition.

The 33-year old cricketer is ranked sixth in the list of most valuable players of the 21st century in Tests. However, he could not find a place in the top twenty in T20Is.

In a statement on Saturday, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell congratulated Shakib for being selected as second most valuable player of the century in ODI cricket by Wisden.

"It's very good news for the countrymen during the deadly Covid-19 situations. It's a very big achievement for us. With this feat, our position in world cricket will further be strongthened and I do hope Shakib will bring more laurel for the country continuing his brilliant form in future," he said.

Wisden selected the most valuable players from each format in a joint study with CricViz. They took into account the impact of the players over the past twenty years.
