Opening batsman Shadman Islam has been ruled out of the second Test due to a hip injury he sustained during the Chattogram Test. He is the second player after Shakib Al Hasan to be ruled out due to injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the news through a press release. The press release said - "Shadman has been making a good recovery from the hip injury incurred during an awkward fall while fielding on day four of the first of the two ICC Test Championship matches. However, the BCB Medical Team has suggested resting him for the second Test until he is fully fit to resume playing."

The southpaw will leave the team Bio-security Bubble and will be under the surveillance and treatment of the BCB Medical Team as he undergoes rehabilitation.

However, no replacement has been named yet. Earlier, Soumya Sarkar was named as the replacement of Shakib Al Hasan who may miss the New Zealand tour as well.
