Shadman Islam hopeful of making a good comeback

Left-handed opening batsman Shadman Islam believes that he can start things off well on his return to cricket. Shadman underwent rehabilitation after a successful wrist surgery recently.  

While addressing the media, Shadman said, "Lockdown began three-four days after I had returned from Australia after the surgery. I didn't undergo much treatment then. I spoke to Elahi Sir who gave me some drills. Gradually my wrist got better and that's when I started bit of batting practice. Then I started doing the drills that I was given for rehabilitation. I persisted with that for two and a half months. Afterwards, I used to do some running, gym and batting drills in an academy."

The left-hander was a little scared before returning to full-fledged batting practice: "I haven't batted or faced the bowling machine for some time. I did some drills in the academy though. But I was a little scared as I was out of action for a long time. I thought it would take time to get into the zone. But it didn't take much time and it didn't hurt. It's great to be back."

The 25-year old is optimistic that he can make a good comeback. "There hasn't been any play for a long time. We have an overseas tour ahead. Domestic cricket will return as well. Good news is, I have been able to do things now as well as I like. So I hope that I can start off things well," Shadman concluded.
