Saif Hassan has had a terrible start to his international career so far. He managed to score only 25 runs from the 5 Test innings he batted, 16 being his top score.
The 22-year old batsman had a forgettable outing in the first Test in Kandy's batting paradise as well where he went for a duck and 1 respectively in the two innings.
There have been discussions and talks within the cricket fraternity that Saif will be dropped from the second Test eleven and Shadman Islam will replace him.
But Tigers' head coach Russel Domingo wants to give Saif another go. He told during the virtual press brief on Wednesday that Saif will get another chance in the second Test.
Domingo also mentioned the left-right combination is nice to have up the order.
"I definitely still want to give Saif Hassan a go. Opening the batting is hard in Tests. A lot of openers take a bit of time to find their feet. We want to provide him with another opportunity tomorrow. It is always nice to have a right and left-hand opening combination. Saif will play tomorrow."
Domingo also told that he wants to have the same three pacers in the second Test as well, but he will consider their workload from the last Test that ended just a few days ago.
"I would like to keep the same three going. But I have to consider their workload from the last Test that ended few days ago. Taskin bowled 37 overs, Ebadat bowled 30-odd and Rahi bowled 20-odd. I want to make sure they are fresh and ready to give 100 per cent again in a couple of days," Domingo said.
"I want to be consistent in selection and give the guys a fair crack as possible, to perform at Test-level."
Bangladesh will play their final World Test Championship 2019-21 match in Kandy.
They named an unchanged squad for the second Test already.
Bangladesh have already bagger their first WTC points after drawing the first Test in which batters dominated but this also ensured they will finish the WTC being in the bottom of the table.
