Rain washes first session away at Manchester

The first session of the third day of the Test between England and West Indies was washed away as rain played spoilsport. 

The weather forecasts predicted rain on the day and it suggests that it will be raining all day long, meaning that chances of some cricket happening are scarce. 

The play came to a close on day two with West Indies on 32-1, 437 runs behind the English with Kraigg Brathwaite and Alzarri Joseph at the crease. Their only fatality was John Campbell, who was sent back by Sam Curran. 

Earlier on day two, Dom Sibley and Ben Stokes put up a mammoth 260-run stand to lay the foundation for a big total. Both Sibley and Stokes went on to pick up their hundreds, Sibley his second and Stokes his 10th in Tests. 

But a flurry of wickets saw England struggling but a quickfire 31 off 26 deliveries from Dom Bess saw England reach 469-9 when skipper Joe Root decided to declare. 

Coming into bat, West Indies lost their only wicket of the day in the 10th over when Curran struck Campbell with a nipping delivery. The umpire said no but a review from Root saw the decision overturned and West Indies ended the day on 32-1.
