No positives from this match: Tamim

Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal was in no mood to mince his words after Bangladesh lost the first ODI against New Zealand by eight wickets in Dunedin. 

"To be honest, there is nothing positive to take from this match,'' Tamim said in the post-match press conference. 

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a paltry total of 131, a total which the hosts chased down with 172 deliveries to spare.

"Yes, batting was a bit difficult in the morning. There was seam and swing.  But we didn't bat well, there were at least 3-4 soft dismissals if you see,'' he said.

Still, Tamim gave credit to the way debutant Mahedi Hasan played as his only positive:"Probably the only positive was Mahedi's first shot (went for a six), that was nice, I would have loved him to continue. He bowled well today, he showed character."

"We take pride in our batting but we are never a team to be bundled out for 130, whatever the conditions may be. Hope we learn from this and execute in the upcoming matches," he added.

The next match of the three-match series is on Tuesday in Christchurch and Bangladesh will have to show a massive improvement for a better result.
