No change in Asia Cup schedule yet: BCB CEO

Much has been talked about the possible change in the upcoming Asia Cup's schedule which is slated to be held in June this year. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani on Sunday confirmed that the Asia Cup slated to be held in June this year is likely to be postponed if India manages to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship. But the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury believes there is still no change and the tournament will be held in due time. 

Talking to the media on Monday, Nizamuddin said that the ongoing Test series between India and England will play a key role in deciding the WTC finalists where New Zealand are waiting for either India or England. 

"You know that the finalists of the Test Championship have not been finalized yet. A Test series now underway and that will be key to decide who plays in the final. There is no change in the way the Asia Cup is slotted at the moment," Nizamuddin said. 

New Zealand have already booked their place in the final that will be held at the Lord's from June 18 this year. India are currently on top of the table with 490 points. England and Australia are right behind them. 

The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on June 1 in Sri Lanka. It was previously scheduled to be held in September 2020 but the tournament was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
