Mushfiqur Rahim turns leg-spinner
Liton Das is supposed to don the gloves in Sri Lanka. That's why Mushfiqur Rahim has done only some batting and fielding practice. But today he was neither seen batting nor donning the gloves. As hard as it is to believe, he was seen bowling leg-spin.
Unlike the last couple of days, it rained for some time on Tuesday, much to the relief of cricketers. They began training despite rain. The session started with fielding. After a little breather, the cricketers were seen playing unusual roles in the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Liton Das is supposed to don the gloves in Sri Lanka. That's why Mushfiqur Rahim has done only some batting and fielding practice. But today he was neither seen batting nor donning the gloves. As hard as it is to believe, he was seen bowling leg-spin.
Mushfiq, who started off at BKSP as a pacer, suddenly turned into a leg-spinner. While tailenders were doing some batting practice, Mushfiq was seen bowling to them.
Taijul Islam went to bat at the nets few minutes after Mushfiq had started bowling. Tamim Iqbal turned batting coach, giving tips to Taijul Islam, who is a bowler predominantly.
While Taijul was batting, Mehidy Hasan Miraz padded up and was ready to bat. Then Imrul Kayes and Shadman Islam started to bowl off-spin.
This is not the end. A fast bowler in his playing days, bowling coach Otis Gibson turned a leg-spinner as well. He bowled to Rubel Hossain and Taskin Ahmed. Wicketkeeper batsman Nurul Hasan also bowled a bit of off-spin.
In order to ensure more solidity in the lower order, tailenders had to do batting practice on Tuesday. They though batted against part-time bowlers and throwers.
While addressing the media after training on Tuesday, right-arm fast bowler Taskin Ahmed said, "We bowlers had a batting session today. The bowlers and the throwers at the nets were giving us a tough time but we have to learn to take this challenge. I hope that the tailenders will contribute more with the bat in future."
