Mushfiq in favour of five-day Tests

A lot of talks have been going in the cricketing world about reducing Test matches to four days instead of the current pattern of five. But since the idea was pitched, many cricketers have spoken against it and Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim is the latest in line. 

Mushfiqur, one of the best batsmen Bangladesh have ever produced, has said that it should stay the same as it is and the idea of shortening it should be scrapped. 

"There is absolutely no question of it being played in four days. I agree with all those who are talking about Test matches staying five days long. I feel that cricket is a religion of huge stature. Test cricket is the longest format which played across five days. To be honest, I could have played it for longer if I wanted. But what I feel is that it started as five days and it should stay the same," the 32-year old said. 

He brought up the example of recent Test matches producing results at the 11th hour of the match and said that this would not happen if a day is cut off from Test cricket. 

"If you notice you will see that many recent matches have produced results in the last session of the fifth day. So, if it changed to four days the results will not come even if we play a bit differently. I feel that Test cricket should always be played for five days," Mushfiq added.

Mushfiq is the only wicketkeeper-batsman in Test history to have scored two double hundreds and is considered to have the most solid technique in Bangladesh.
