Mushfiqur Rahim has been out of form for some time now. The veteran cricketer scored only 39 runs in the 5 T20Is against New Zealand, two of them were ducks. Earlier, he returned to the country for family reasons after playing only one Test in Zimbabwe in July where he scored 11 runs in the first innings of that match. He was not in the Australia series due to bio-bubble issues.

The wicketkeeper-batsman could not accept himself with such an unfamiliar look with the bat. He quickly started practising while everyone else was resting after the New Zealand series. He went back to his childhood coach Nazmul Abedin Fahim and practised a few sessions.

Mushfiqur decided to play two ODIs against the High-Performance (HP)team for Bangladesh 'A' team to keep himself involved in match practice and get back to runs. It was his decision to immerse himself in the match situation before the T20 World Cup.

The veteran cricketer is successful in his goal. He returned to runs playing an unbeaten innings of 70 runs against the HP team on Tuesday.

Imrul Kayes scored 60 runs as well. The 'A' team beat the HP team by 6 wickets with the help of these two experienced cricketers.

Not only Mushfiqur, but some cricketers in Bangladesh's World Cup squad have also played in this match. Shamim Hossain Patwari along with World Cup reserves Aminul Islam Biplob and Rubel Hossain played in the match. Shamim Hossain and Biplob both scored 8 runs each and they both took one wicket each with the ball.

Experienced pacer Rubel took 2 wickets for 32 runs.

Batting first, HP team scored 247 runs in 48.5 overs with the help of opener Tanjid Hasan Tamim's 81 and Shahadat Hossain's 51.

Tanzid hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in 93 balls. Shahadat scored 51 off 64 balls with one four and one six. Besides, 38 runs came from Mahmudul Hasan's bat.

Mosaddek Hossain of the A team took four wickets. Rubel and Shahidul bagged two wickets each.

In reply, almost all the batsmen of the 'A' team got runs. However, Imrul and Mushfiqur played big innings. Apart from them, Mominul Haque scored 29, Nazmul Hossain Shanto bagged 27 and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat scored 24 runs.

Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten on 26 runs.

HP team's Sumon Khan took two wickets. Biplob and Shamim bagged one wicket each.
