Mominul hopeful of overcoming bad patch against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh's batting have looked lacklustre, to say the least in their recent Test outings. One of the major concerns for Bangladesh has been that none of their batsmen could score a hundred in their last four Test matches. Many of their batsmen got a start against Pakistan but failed to convert those starts to give the side a base for a big total.

Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul though believes that it was just a bad patch for the side and the batsmen will turn it around in their one-off Test against Zimbabwe starting on Saturday.

"To be honest, not having a hundred (in the team) in the recent matches means that you are performing below-par. We are going through a bad patch as a team. Almighty willing, we are working on overcoming this. I am giving my word that someone from the team will play a big innings, will score 100, 200 or 300."

Mominul also believed that a win would change the whole situation for the team and they are working hard to achieve that. 

"I think that if we can win this match, the whole scenario will change, we will overcome our bad patch. The way we are training will become a lot better than it looks right now," he said.

Mominul also added that whenever they play, they play to win and it will be no different against Zimbabwe. 

"We take the field in every series to win, either it is Zimbabwe or it is Australia. Everyone is looking forward to playing good cricket. We have been preparing in the training session in that manner in the last 4-5 days," the left-handed batsman said. 

This will be Mominul's first stint as captain at home and he was hopeful about doing well. He said, "There is always pressure in international cricket. But I am hopeful that we will play good cricket in the Test against Zimbabwe."

Many have counted Zimbabwe as a pushover but Mominul is against that as he said that no team was a pushover. 

"There is no reason behind belittling Zimbabwe. No team is a pushover. I always count Zimbabwe as a quality side," Mominul said.

Mominul himself has worked hard ahead of this series as he spent time with his coach from early days Mohammad Salahuddin to get back to form. He went off to decent starts against Pakistan at Rawalpindi but failed to convert them and will look forward to playing better on his first Test at home as captain.
