Miraz believes he can do better with the bat
Now that Miraz has found some form in batting, he believes he can do even better with the bat and contribute to the team more.
Miraz is having a good run with both bat and ball against Windies. He scored his first Test hundred in the first Test, bagged another fifty in the ongoing Test as well. He also picked up a number of wickets with a man of the match performance in the ODIs.
Much has been discussed about his batting in the last 4-5 years. All knew he has that ability to become a solid all-rounder and do even better with the bat, but something had been missing.
Miraz himself ruined some of the chances he got to show his batsmanship on some occasions even though he mostly bats at number 8 or 9. The two innings that he played in the ongoing Test series against Windies showed some glimpses of what batsman Miraz can do.
Miraz was mostly recognised as a batsman than a bowler during his age level days. But his batting soon faded away with him making his international debut against England and picking up wickets for fun in Tests. The board and the team management wanted him to continue as a bowler more than a batsman, he was content too.
The all-rounder had only two fifties in his 5-year Test career prior to this series. One against India and the other came against Windies, that too nearly 26 months ago. Miraz needed something special to regain his confidence in batting and showcase what he can actually contribute to the team.
Now that Miraz has found some form in batting, he believes he can do even better with the bat and contribute to the team more.
"I couldn't do well in the early days (with bat). Now that I'm scoring some runs, I'm getting that confidence back. I hope I can do even better and contribute to the team," said Miraz.
Miraz has acknowledged his teammates for helping him out with his batting skills in recent times.
"Senior cricketers have been helping me a lot on my batting. Mominul bhai, Mushfiq bhai have given me some tips and I'm trying to follow those."
Miraz broke records at Mirpur on Saturday. He became the youngest and quickest Bangladeshi to reach 100 Test wickets, and he is so far the only one who doesn't bowl left-arm orthodox.
Miraz took 24 Tests to reach 100 Test wickets where he surpassed Taijul Islam who reached the milestone in 25 Tests.
