Ministry of Youth and Sports announces cash reward for SA Games medal winners

Athletes can bag up to Tk6 lakh for a medal.

Successful athletes of the upcoming SA Games can earn up to Tk6 lakh as a reward from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. State Minister for Youth and Sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel announced this today. The gold medalists will get a cash reward of Tk6 lakh, silver medalists will win Tk3 lakh and bronze medalists will earn Tk1 lakh for their effort. The Minister announced this at a meeting on SA games at the National Sports Council (NSC) tower.  

Zahid Ahsan hoped that this announcement will encourage the athletes and they will win more medals than the last event, "We won four gold medals last time. The Prime Minister rewarded the winners by giving them flats. We hope the athletes will do better this time.

"In team events, each of the gold-winning team members will be rewarded with Tk1 lakh. Silver medal-winning team members will receive Tk50 thousand each and a bronze-winning team member will get Tk30 thousand." He added.

The 10th edition of the SA Games will be held at Kathmandu, Nepal. The main event is set to commence from December 1.
