Maradona to visit Bangladesh in 2020, confirms Salahuddin

The date and time of his visit is yet to be finalised but the BFF chief confirmed that Maradona will come here as a guest as part of the celebration.

Diego Maradona, one of the greatest footballers of all time is set to visit Bangladesh in 2020 to celebrate Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary. The news was confirmed to the media by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin on Tuesday.

The date and time of his visit is yet to be finalised but the BFF chief confirmed that Maradona will come here as a guest as part of the celebration.

"He (Maradona) has given his consent that he would come to Bangladesh as part of Bangabandhu's birth centenary celebration. Because there are a lot of events here as part of the celebration, the exact date is yet to be set", Salahuddin told the media.

The BFF will host the Bangabandhu Gold Cup international tournament as part of the birth centenary celebrations from 15 - 25 January 2020.

The Bangabandhu SAFF tournament will be held at the end of 2020, also as part of this celebration and there will also be other domestic football events to commemorate Bangabandhu's birth centenary.
