Jamie Day donates to feed the poor

Bangladesh football team's head coach Jamie Day has raised his hand to help support and feed 300 less-fortunate people as the whole country is shut down due to the rising Coronavirus threat.

The former Arsenal player has been in quarantine at his house in London but has kept a close eye on his team members and Bangladesh.

The 40-year-old has chosen to help those who are daily wage earners via the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

The BFF had earlier started their work to help the community by distributing lunch to 200-300 people in the commercial hub of Dhaka, Motijheel, every day since the government had announced a general holiday from March 26 onwards to limit the spread of the virus.

 Wednesday's expenses for the feeding of 300 less fortunate people by the BFF were provided by Day, confirmed Ahsan Ahmed Amit, the media manager of BFF.

"He [Day] welcomed BFF's every-day initiative to feed the needy people in these difficult days of the corona. He also urged the privileged ones to come forward and support such initiatives," said Amit Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the food distributing program in front of the BFF House is attended by many low-income earners like domestic workers, orphan children, rickshawpullers, workers of grocery shops and physically challenged people. 

The BFF's program will continue until at least April 9 as the government Tuesday decided to extend the ongoing nationwide holiday for five more days.
