'I am leaving everything to the Almighty'

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman joined the team on Tuesday after undergoing an 11-day quarantine. Mustafizur, who had an excellent IPL stint recently, has been away from action for 25 days and said that he is leaving everything to the Almighty. 

Mustafizur utilised his variations to excellent effect in the IPL. He bowled cutters, yorkers, slower yorkers really well and also developed a back of the hand slower delivery. On asked whether he would be able to replicate his IPL performance against Sri Lanka, he said, "I haven't done all these for the last 25 days. I am leaving everything to the Almighty."

Mustafizur mentioned that staying in a bio-secure bubble is mentally draining. "For the last two years, staying in a bio-bubble has been very difficult not only for me, but also for the other players."

Mustafizur admitted that he is lacking proper preparation. "Yesterday we couldn't practice (because of rain). After today, there are two more days left. Let's see what happens. I'm leaving the rest to the Almighty," he said.

On asked whether Bangladesh would be able to whitewash Sri Lanka, the left-arm pacer said, "I won't be able to tell anything before playing the matches."

Mustafizur opined that Sri Lanka are almost equally strong as Bangladesh despite having few new faces and said that a series win is on the cards if the team performs well.

Sri Lanka will lock horns with Bangladesh in the first ODI at Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on May 23. The visitors will play two more ODIs on the same venue on May 25 and 28. All the matches will be part of the ODI Super League.
